                                                       Congratulations Morgan!

Morgan McElwee, an 18 year old resident of Fort Collins, passed her HA-rating for Pony Club! The HA-rating is the horse management component of the coveted A-rating. The HA consists of three sections which are stable and pasture management, veterinary knowledge, and teaching and training. Each section is supervised and scored by an appointed Pony Club judge and you must pass all three sections to complete the HA-Rating. Morgan traveled all the way to Manhattan, Kansas to perform her rating. Currently you can find her competing in Three Day Eventing atop her 6 year old Oldenburg mare, DaLoryan. In the fall Morgan will begin her freshman year of college at Montana State. The Happy Horse will miss her greatly, and we look forward to the holidays when she will come visit. Congratulations Morgan and Good Luck at college!

                       Equine Astrology
  Virgo
23 August - 22 September

This month we celebrate the astrology of the Virgo! Virgo's are an Earth sign and are ruled by the planet Mercury. Of all the signs in the Zodiac, Virgo is the most diligent and hardworking. Serving his master and working hard gives him a sense of well-being and fulfillment. Virgos are also very intelligent, productive, and they learn quickly. These animals excel in areas that require precision and often do well in dressage. His even temperament and willingness to work make him an excellent schoolmaster! Even though the Virgo is very willing to work, he needs to have a daily routine and craves order in the yard. Since he is a workaholic, relaxation doesn't come too easily, so you need to make sure you chose the right type of activities to restore his vitality. A light hack in a field or some turn-out time will help him unwind. Be careful not to let him "relax" too much, because he will find a new job and it could be one you do not approve of.

Next month Equine Astrology will feature Libra!

Epona's Riders' Reward Shower Scrub
Retail price: $14.95

Finally! A product that actually does what it is supposed to do! Riders' Reward Shower Scrub, distributed by Epona, is shower heaven in a bottle. We all know that life at the barn can tend to make a rider's skin dry, flaky and rough. After using this product for a couple of days I noticed the difference in the quality of my skin. The rough parts are now smooth and shiny and the dryness has been scrubbed away. Epona's Shower Scrub also has a revitalizing aromatherapeutic effect on the senses! This foaming cleanser is textured with finely ground walnut shells and blended with Eucalyptus, Siberian Fir, Basil and Peppermint Oils. Besides being an extremely effective product, Riders' Reward is 100% cruelty free and the packaging is recyclable! I give this product two thumbs up!

Romfh's Color Block Coolmax Show Shirt
Retail Price: $49.95

This is the perfect show shirt for eventers and dressage riders. At first glance the Romfh Coolmax show shirt looks like the typical equestrian sportswear, but if you look in the back there is a strap for your stock tie. Voila! The shirt turns from stylish sportswear to classic ring wear. Once you take off your coat the wicking fabric dries quickly and you can unzip the top, grab some water, and watch everyone else in your division. For those that don't have designated shirts for cross country, the Romfh shirt is awesome under your crash vest. You will really appreciate the special Coolmax wicking fabric when you are on course! The Romfh Color Block Coolmax Show Shirt is available in peri/white, greentea/white, rouge/white and white.

         Happy Horse Annual Donation Report

The Happy Horse is proud to be a sponsor of both local and regional organizations. Throughout the 2004 show season we have donated close to $4,000 to organizations like the local 4-H clubs, various breed shows, therapeutic riding centers, young rider teams, Colorado State University, and the local pony club. Look for the Happy Horse high point award at the next regional show you attend or you might see a donated product at fund raisers such as Bit of a Bash, the annual event for the Larimer County Boys and Girls club. The owners at Happy Horse believe community outreach is the key to the success and longevity of a local business.

If your organization is interested in a sponsorship from the Happy Horse, please contact us as early as possible so we have time to choose items that would serve you in the best way. Unfortunately, we cannot offer monetary donations or sponsorship, but we have a wide variety of products, gift certificates, and we offer quantity discounts for large award purchases. All of our donations are offered free of charge, therefore, the Happy Horse reserves the right to refuse any donation request. Also, we need at least one week notice in order to process donation requests. Please bring any information regarding your organization by the Happy Horse or call Lindsay or Jen at the shop.
