Three-Day Eventing was the first event to begin during the 2004 Olympic games. This was also the first time the games featured a modified event course and line-up. Fences on course were constructed with a new state of the art breakaway system. Course designer, Albino Garbari, did a fantastic job and produced a beautiful course that incorporated Greek history, landscapes and exceptional jump construction.

Last, but certainly not least, the Showjumping was the final event to begin during the 2004 summer games. After three rounds of qualifying some horse and rider teams advanced to the final two rounds and fought it out for the top three medal spots. Weatherbeeta Freestyle Has Arrived!

Weatherbeeta has done it again! WB conducted in-depth research into the natural movement of horses, which led to a revolutionary new design that provides freedom of movement and all over protection.. Designed in response to requests from horse owners worldwide, Weatherbeeta recognized the need for a horse's increased flexibility and greater freedom of movement in the shoulder area and around the front legs. A new advancement in seam taping technology is featured with the Freestyle system, which allows a contour fit while remaining waterproof!
Cupped Shoulder Dart
The unique cupped dart truly frees a horse's chest and shoulders. The sewn in dart is independently structured, creating a small pocket of room at the chest that skims the horse's body perfectly allowing full and fluid movement. This also alleviates restriction and rubbing.
Correctly Positioned Freedom Gusset
The gussets have been repositioned to the front of the legs rather than on the sides. This allows the horse's legs to move fluidly, opening and closing the gusset naturally in conjunction with the unique cupped dart creating maximum freedom in the chest and shoulder area.

Weatherstop Full Wrap Tail Flap
The Weatherstop tail flap is considerably wider to offer maximum all over protection against the elements, this unique 2 piece design naturally harnesses the wind, using its force to wrap and tuck the fabric around the tail when the horse turns its back to the weather and does not restrict tail movement. The Weatherstop tail flap also acts as a stabilizer, preventing the rug from slipping and providing greater shape around the horses quarters.

Weatherbeeta offers the new Freestyle System in all blanket models. Stop by the Happy Horse and have a staff member show you the new features of this system.

Equine Astrology
Libra
22 September - 24 October

This month we celebrate the astrology of the Libra! Libra's are an Air sign and are ruled by the planet Venus. Equines of the Libra persuasion tend to be well mannered and intelligent. They enjoy the companionship between horse and master and are also very compatible with other air signs and with fire signs. Libras crave balance, beauty, and harmony and they achieve this through relationships with others. Besides being an excellent companion, Libras are also very goal oriented and they enjoy using strategy to get the job done. These horses tend to excel in dressage, driving, side-saddle or any other discipline that strategy is important. Isolation is the Libra's worst dread. A lonely Libra is a very sorry character, so he needs to be in a home that is shared with another pony, horse or donkey.  Friendship really will make a difference in his ability to thrive. Since the Libra is an air sign he would much rather be out in the open then cooped up inside the barn. The Libra's favorite activity would be any experience he can share with his master. He is the perfect partner for anyone who understands his sensitive nature and who treats him with the kindness and consideration he deserves. A natural 'gentlemen', this horse can charm the birds out of the trees. His innate good manners will enable you to take him anywhere. Everyone will love him!

Next month Equine Astrology will feature Scorpio!

Ursa Wagon
Retail price: $599.00

Have you ever gone to clean stalls and found a flat tire on your manure spreader or tractor, or even worse, it won’t start?  Have you ever tipped your wheel barrel on the way to the manure pile? Have you ever-cleaned stalls at a horse show and had to take 200 trips with a manure bucket? Well I have and that is why I think the Ursa Wagon is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen! This is truly a one-hand wagon, easily carrying 500 pounds and with the flatbed adaptor you can move 7-8 bales of hay at a time. If that’s not enough, this thing is seriously heavy duty! Made in the USA of a rust free anodized aluminum frame and corrosion-free polymer cargo sled. This wagon holds 5 cubic feet of any solid or liquid (yep, its seamless) and has full range dumping with ease. This wagon is a real 4-season tool, not even snow can stand in its way.  Simply pull 2 pins and you have sled for snowy days and icy conditions. Don’t let your kids get a hold of it or you might find it at your local sledding hill! I can easily load the wagon in the back of my pickup alone proving their motto “One hand. One Wagon.” If you are looking for a wagon to last forever or an affordable and reliable alternative to a tractor, look no future!  See their website at www.ursawagon.com or come see our demo model at the store.

Amerigo Saddle Company
Retail Price: starting at $2800.00

www.amerigo-usa.com

No one says saddle fitting is easy, but with Amerigo the process is simplified and the options are endless.  With more than 7 different tree shape option and dozens of customizing features your search for a perfect saddle is over! The origins of Amerigo go back to the 1950’s when Peter Menet began influencing the show jumping industry prioritizing correct riding and biomechanics of both horse and rider. In 1986 Peter formed a partnership with La Belle Saddlery, based in Switzerland. This small and unique company produces only 18 saddles a month allowing for individual customizations and handcraftsmanship that we rarely can appreciate in today’s industrial age. In 1987 the Amerigo saddle line arrived and is certainly here to stay!
Blending the traditional craftsmanship with state of the art design and material, Amerigo has no rival.  All saddles are built on an 11-layer wooden spring tree covered with naturally tanned Italian cowhide or calfskin. The independent panels are made up of two individual parts and are not attached to the saddle as with other panel types. When in use they contour unrestricted to the shape of the horse at any gait. The panels are flocked with a blend of synthetic fibers.  Unlike wool, this blend does not concentrate into lumps and the shape of the panel is kept more precise.  All Amerigo saddles can be reflocked (but rarely need to be) and the head iron of the tree can be adjusted if required.
Amerigo is now distributed in the USA exclusively through Equibrand, another excellent company known for quality and professionalism. They have multiple test ride options available for both dressage and jumping saddles.  Let us know if you would like to set up a saddle fitting to experience the saddle that everyone is talking about.  Your horse will thank you!
